Growth Groups

We have a variety of small groups that meet for Bible study in homes and at the church, called “Growth Groups.” It’s important to connect with God’s people outside of Sunday church services so we can build up one another’s faith and serve God in the mission field of Corvallis. You do not have to be a member of Shepherd of the Valley to join a growth group. To visit a growth group or to get more information, please contact the church office.

Bethel Growth Group

This group is mostly made up of retirees who gather for a Bible study, prayer, and dinner. The group decides the topic of the Bible study; based on the group’s interest, a struggle that sparks discussion, or anything else! They meet at 3:00p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. They rotate meeting in the homes of people who are part of the Bethel Growth Group. New people and visitors are welcome.

Damascus Growth Group

This group is mostly made up of families with college-age, high school-age, or adult children. They gather for Bible study and prayer. Together, they decide on the topic of the Bible study. Just as Jesus went house-to-house, these disciples of Christ visit one another’s houses for their meetings week-by-week. The Damascus growth group meets at 7:00p.m. on the 2nd & 4th Sundays of the month except during the summer months. New people and visitors are welcome.

Nazareth Growth Group

This is primarily a group of couples at the “empty-nest” stage of life, those with no children, or children away at college. They gather to sharpen each other’s faith through Bible study and prayer. The study and Scripture passages are decided on by the group. The meeting location rotates, home-to-home, between people who are part of the group. There isn’t a set meeting time but they choose a time that works around their schedules. However, the meeting usually occurs on a Sunday evening at 6:30pm. In the summer, they host a BBQ to decide future topics to visit and information to cover. New people and visitors are welcome.

Emmaus Growth Group

This is a group of women, generally between the ages of 50-70, who gather to study women of the Bible–their lives, their prayers, and their love. Meets on 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 9:30a.m. (except in the summer months). They meet at the Shepherd of the Valley church building. New people and visitors are welcome.
